Here is a review on my time with the car and the points that really stood out.
First, let me start with the size. This car is long. It is easily longer than a standard UK parking bay, and you do notice that when you first start manoeuvring it. You need to think about positioning and be aware of overhangs. However, thanks to the four wheel steering, it genuinely turns better than you would expect. The rear wheels helping to steer at lower speeds makes a big difference when navigating tighter spaces, and it takes away a lot of the intimidation factor you might expect from something this big.

You still don’t see many cars from Genesis Motor on the road, which really is a shame. Because in terms of luxury, comfort and technology, this has more than enough to rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. In this specification, at around £77k, it also offers strong value considering just how much comes as standard.
On the road, the ride quality is excellent. It genuinely wafts along, soaking up potholes and uneven British road surfaces with ease. Even on poorly maintained sections, it stays composed and refined. There’s a real sense of isolation from road imperfections, which is exactly what you want from a luxury saloon.
At the same time, it doesn’t feel soft or disconnected. When you get to a stretch of twisty road, it still manages to handle with sharp, crisp responses. The steering feels precise, body control is well managed and it carries its weight confidently. Select Sport mode and you notice the difference straight away. The car tightens up, throttle response sharpens and even the side bolsters of the seats actively adjust to hold you in place. It’s a subtle but very premium feature that reinforces the attention to detail.

Inside is where the G80 Electrified really makes its statement. You are comforted by beautifully finished Nappa leather power seats, with heating and ventilation, and plenty of adjustment to get the perfect driving position. The white interior in this car looks fantastic and really lifts the cabin, although it does mean you will spend more time keeping it clean if you want it looking pristine.
Rear passengers are not forgotten either. They benefit from electric blinds, generous space and the same high quality materials. The luxury continues with rear doors that can be shut automatically, and all doors feature a soft close function. These are the sort of details you normally associate with much more expensive cars.
The Bang & Olufsen audio system, paired with Dolby Atmos technology, is another highlight. Sound quality is rich, detailed and immersive. Whether you are cruising quietly or turning it up on a longer drive, it delivers a genuinely premium listening experience.
Under the skin, the AWD powertrain follows the efficiency-focused engineering of Hyundai Motor Group. The 94.5kWh battery pack delivers a claimed 354 miles of range, and it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 25 minutes under the right conditions.

What impressed me most was how it performed in the real world. Even in colder conditions, it was able to exceed WLTP expectations. On my Eco test, it achieved 4.2 miles per kWh, which would theoretically take it to just under 397 miles on a single charge. For a large luxury EV with AWD, that is very impressive efficiency and makes it extremely usable day to day.

As for the negatives, there are not many. The white interior, while stunning, will require upkeep. The boot is slightly on the small side, likely due to compromises from sharing a platform with ICE versions, which also means there is no frunk at the front. And rear passengers should watch their heads when getting in, as the roofline is a little low — I managed to catch mine more than once.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a luxury electric saloon that offers something different from the usual German choices, the Genesis G80 Electrified is definitely worth a look. It delivers excellent ride comfort, strong real world efficiency, impressive refinement and a level of equipment that makes it feel like very good value for money. Add in the five year warranty, and it becomes an even more compelling package.
It may not be the obvious badge choice, but after a week with it, it is absolutely a brand I would give a second look.
