So after a week with the Ford Motor Company Mustang Mach e standard range here is my review. So having completed a couple of Guiness World Records in the Mach E I’m quite familiar with the car, but this is the first time I have driven the standard range version with the smaller 70kWh usable battery. I’m pleased to say it didn’t disappoint it easily achieved over 200miles to a single charge. On a cross country run from Swansea to Shrewsbury and back it was on course to achieve 268 miles less than 10 miles short of WLTP particularly impressive with 9c temperatures.

If your looking for a long range EV I would definitely say don’t be put off looking at the standard range in warmer weather I think 300miles is very possible.

Since the last time I drove one there have been some major usability upgrades to the ford sync system, my only criticism is the charge timer system could be better, luckily most modern home chargers render this unnecessary.

So now on to the main reason for the test to try out the Ford Blue Cruise hands free system this is the first hands of feet off system to be legally approved for the UK. I have to admit it did the job really well I had no urge to take over unless the car requested it and felt really comfortable with it in control covering more than 50 motorway miles with no input from me as a driver. With more features on the way its a great driver aid although it does  initially feel odd with your hands resting on your lap.Overall the Ford Mustang Mach e is a very credible EV with the added benefits of an extensive dealership network, I have to admit I would never have considered the standard range until I’d driven it but now thing its definitely one people should put on their list especially at the lower price point over the Extended range, its a Ford that doesn’t disappoint.
